FROM TASIE THEODORE – OWERRI
A football buff, Chief Pat. Ike Uzoma has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the leadership of Amaju Pinnick to make it compulsory for all teams participating in the premier league to make their trips by air.
He said he also wants the National Assembly and particularly, the upper chamber, the Senate to pass a law mandating all clubs to go to their respective venues by air.
This he said has become very necessary in order to save the lives of the players and their officials from the hands of hoodlums like those involved in the recent attack on Kano Pillars players as well as making the round leather object bame more interesting and patronised.
According to him, the physiological trauma shock or damage this will cost them will be much compared with when they travel by air. Continuing, Mr. Uzoma said the change in date occassioned by the attack will not only affect the local league but the continental engagements thereby shifting the time table.
He described it as “pennywise-pound foolish” noting also that it will consequentially drag our league behind. He prayed God to give the players quick recovery to continue with the rest of their games.
