Tempo of political developments rises
By Tajudeen Hamzat
When the National Assembly took what many consider to be a political break this week, it suddenly dawned on the ruling APC – which had by applying executive heat on the leadership of the assembly – that it had once again miscalculated in the running of the affairs of state.
This is because, for an administration that is under pressure to deliver visible dividends to the people ahead of what is clearly looking like an out-of-control election in 2019, the shutting of the assembly until September is clearly going to take a toll on it.
Little wonder then that it is reportedly ‘pleading’ with the leadership of the assembly to have a rethink and reopen for business ahead of the scheduled date for reconvening.
Clearly these are trying times for the Buhari presidency.
