A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Kaduna by the Kaduna State Government. According to a tweet from the verified account of The Government, the action is in the public interest.

This is coming on the heels of what has been described as reprisal attacks that have followed hard on yet another flare-out of ‘communal violence’ in the long-troubled state.

Sources also say that the crisis is not unconnected to the attack on the convoy of a traditional ruler in the state a few days ago.

In his response, Senate President Bukola Saraki called on all concerned to do everything possible to ensure that the crisis is brought under control.

Eye-witnesses say that there is confusion in notably the Ahmadu Bello Way high streets section of the city with residents said to be running all over the place and in search of safe havens.
