At its centres, over 300 critical molecular test can be carried out effectively in Africa-ranging from oncology, infectious diseases, genetic testing and sequencing, anatomic pathology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, servicing both communicable and non communicable diseases.
Addressing journalists in Lagos on the benefit of 7RiverLabs and challenges of poor healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria, te Founder and Chief Executive Officer, 54 gene, Dr.Abasi Ene-Obong said 7RiverLabs is a diagnostic firm whose modern state-of-the-art technology will offer affordable, accessible, and advanced technology laboratory services in Nigeria and the broader African continent.
Ene-Obong expressed his dismay over poor healthcare system in Nigeria, saying we understand the power of advanced technology and “every healthcare provider wants the best treatment outcomes for their patients.”
Continuing, he said that everyday in Nigeria and around the continent, patients walk into healthcare centres seeking medical treatment, trusting that their doctor has the right diagnostic solution but they are disappointed because their healthcare provider or local laboratory lacks the latest laboratory capacity to detect their illness.
Dr.Abasi Ene-Obong, who spoke to The Difference news in Lagos recently said the Pan-African expansion for 7RiverLabs is in progress.
Responding to questions on technology development, accessibility and cost implications, “we understand the power of advanced technology, every healthcare provider wants the best treatment. We also understand the important of accessible healthcare delivery system. He emphasized that the launching of 7RiverLabs was the manifestation of one of the goals that 54 gene has set out to achieve two years ago to enhance the capacity diagnostic system and treatment outcomes within the African continent by liveraging advances in the precision medicine space.
Speaking earlier with The Difference news, The Chief Business Officer 54 gene and interim-CEO of 7RiverLabs Mr Jude Uzonwanne maintained that the company would continue to invest in latest testing technology in Nigeria. “we will now offer more than the COVID-19 results we are best known for”. Our testing capacity that was developed partly in consultation with physicians, health insurance and patients, as over 300 tests that can be performed here in Nigeria rather than send to United State of America(USA) Or Indian.
Uzonwanne further said, “Our goal with this new subsidiary is to ensure that Nigerians and other Africans has access to advanced laboratory tests at subsidised fees. Patients will receive speedy results that will guide their physicians for effective diagnoses.’ According to him, 7RiverLabs would continue to complement government and all related industry, particularly the Ministry Of Health towards providing improved care outcomes for the general population.
