Ajakaiye to deliver CFJ lecture, April 11

Session to address options for financing Nigeria’s economic recession

Former Director General of the Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research (NISER), Professor Olu Ajakaiye is scheduled to deliver the 2017 edition of The Bullion Lecture, the annual lecture activity convened by the Centre for Financial Journalism (CFJ Nigeria) on April 11, a statement from the centre has revealed.

Conceptualized as a platform for lively discourse on national and international issues, the lecture is scheduled to be held at The Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

A renowned ceonomist, Ajakaiye is presently the Executive Chairman of the African Centre for Shared Capacity Development Building and he will be speaking on the subject, Financing Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth.

The event will be chaired by Mr. Kyari Bukar, Chairman of Nigerian Economic Summit Group, while discussants include Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, former Ag. Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission and Dr. Biodun Adedipe, Chief Consultant, B. Adedipe Associates Limited.

The Centre for Financial Journalism was established to provide specialised training programmes in financial journalism with a view to addressing the knowledge and skills gap in the practice of the trade; and to conduct cutting-edge research on financial journalism, business, the economy, banking and finance, etc.

Professor Akpan Hogan Ekpo, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo and Director-General at the West African Institute for Economic Management, WAIFEM, delivered the 2016 lecture.
