Third time lucky!

Popular and award winning actress Funke Akindele Bello stood at the top of the pack at the weekend for the third time as she won the best actress prize in a comedy at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2017.
The actress had emerged as the best actress in a comedy for her role in the flick, ” The return of Sheri Koko” at the second edition of the AMVCA in 2014 and she was to cap it with her performance on the set of the very popular, “Jenifa’s Diary two years later.
This year, Akindele was nominated twice in the best actress in a comedy category for her roles in ‘A trip to Jamaica’ and once again, Jenifa’s Dairy.
At the close of proceedings, Akindele emerged tops beating Chioma Akpotha who had starred in Wives on Strike, Tina Mba – Meet the in-laws, Funke Akindele – A trip to Jamaica, Uche Jombo – Wives on Strike, Omoni Oboli – Wives on Strike, and Dineo Moeketsi – Mrs Right Guy.
The very talented actress also won in the best television series category for generating the productively successful Jenifa’s Diary.
Another most impressive performance celebrated at the event was that by her fellow Nollywood artist, Rita Dominic who clinched the very coveted “Best Actress in a Drama (Movie/TV Series)” for her role in the box office topping movie “’76.”
On Air personality, IK Osakioduwa, was a compere at the star-studded event which saw the cream of the entertainment community come bedecked in their finest and most daring designs.
