The crisis in Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress is now expanding with a gale of resignations now following upon the initial shock of the defection of key members of the party.
Among the latest numbers to resign their positions are Minister of Women Affairs, Jumai Alhassan, National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto and the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State.
Analysts say that more defections and resignations are likely to follow, particularly after the primaries of the ruling party has taken place.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has presently transmitted a letter to the Senate President, intimating him of his decision to embark on a 10-day leave, effective August 3rd. In his absence, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would serve as Acting President.
