Atiku under fire for Lagos election remark

For making remarks insinuating that he was at the forefront of the controversial victory secured by the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP across South West Nigeria, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has come under a barrage of fire from commentators.

The former Vice President who is an aspirant for the 2019 presidency on the platform of the PDP had at an event in Lagos regretted that he had not gone ahead to ensure the victory of the PDP in that election, alongside those of the other South Western states.

He stated that his action then was on account of his long-standing personal and political relationship with the then Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and as such he had not pressed then that the former governor should also suffer the fate that had befallen the other governors who were then in power on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy, AD.
