There is increasing concern across Nigeria over what appears to be a rising spate of attacks by the Islamist Boko Haram insurgency.

In the latest incident moments ago, multiple bomb blasts hit Damaturu, capital of Yobe State in Nigeria’s insurgency-wracked North-East.

The attacks are widely believed to be the handiwork of suicide bombers form the Boko Haram terrorist group. Notably, the terrorists targetted a Housing Estate in Damaturu that had been named after the current leader of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Eyewitnesses say that the latest set of attacks may have left as many as 16 people dead, with several more injured who are reportedly receiving treatment at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu.
