‘Local North American derby’ goes to Tunisia
By Nsikan Ikpe
The outcome of the CAF Champions League final played yesterday in Tunisia is now in the public domain. Hosts Esperance of Tunisia carried the day with a 3-0 win over Al Ahly of Egypt. Here are some lessons from the encounter.
- It’s not over until you win. Esperance came into the match with a 1-3 setback. By winning 3-0 they cancelled it.
- North Africa still towers over the rest of the region in football.
- Nigeria, West Africa and indeed other parts of Africa desirous of growing their football need to humble themselves and head northward for tutorials. There are no rewards for being tepid or slack
