Candlelight memorials for Adesanmi hold in Abuja, Lagos

Friends, groups gather to memorialize champion of the civic space

Friends and associates of recently departed African studies scholar, Professor Pius Adesanmi have presently scheduled a series of candlelight memorials in honour of the prodigious public commentator and writer.

The first of the sessions takes place between 4-7pm at the Unity Fountain, Abuja on Wednesday, March 13 while the second would hold at the Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Park, Ojota Lagos on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Professor Adesanmi was a victim of the ill-fated Ethiopian Airways flight that crashed enroute Nairobi from Addis Ababa on Sunday.

He is survived by, among others, his wife, mother and daughter.

He was until his passage, the Director of the African Studies Programme at Carleton University, Canada.
