Coup: Burkina Faso waits on Ecowas

Tension is high in Burkina Faso even as Presidents from West Africa’s regional group Ecowas meet in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, today to discuss the crisis in Burkina Faso.

Senegal’s President Macky Sall is sceduled to brief the leaders on the outcome of talks that he held with the coup leaders in Ouagadougou at the weekend.

An army deadline for the junta to step down is approaching, but leader Gen Gilbert Diendere says he wants to wait until the outcome of the Ecowas meeting.
