Egypt’s AFCON hopes still hanging notwithstanding win

By Tasie Theodore

Egypt’s African Cup of Nations, AFCON:hopes are still hanging in the balance notwithstanding it’s 1-0 win over Guinea Bissau on Saturday, The Difference reports.

The Pharoahs who had lost their first match in the continent’s premier football tournament to Nigeria earlier in the week got the only goal of the match through Liverpool FC star, Mohammed Salah.

However, the victory leaves the Egyptian side with just three points even as Guinea Bissau also has a point.

With this scenario, the Pharoahs need to win outright in their final group clash against neighbours, Sudan. Should they not achieve this, their prayer would be that the Nigerians who lead the group very comfortably at the moment and have indeed allready qualified for the Group of 16, would either defeat or, at the least, get a draw in their own final match against Guinea Bissau.
