#EndSARS: Fury, rage over killing of protesters

By John Eche

Fury and rage has greeted news of the killing of unarmed protesters by security operatives at the Lekki Toll Gate epicentre of the #EndSARS protests in Lagos on Tuesday night.

Even at the same time, there is continuing concern and consternation over the continuing failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to  properly address the nation on the concerns raised by the people and thereafter commence the process of implementing policies and measures that would satisfy the yearnings of aggrieved citizens.

The incident of #LekkiMassacre is among the worst things to happen during our time & anyone complicit to it stands condemned. My condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in this heroic movement. I wish those receiving treatments a quick recovery. #EndSARS

The crisis is also been linked by some to a long-standing penchant of the Muhammadu Buhari administration to clampdown on voices of dissent across the spectrum.

Lagos, accept our condolences. This is the murderous regime we had warned the world about when the Shiites were massacred that year, and denied fair trial and justice. Ours, at this point, is to be sure nobody rewrites or revises this history. #LekkiMassacre
