EndSARS: White paper raises even more issues

By Akpo Ometan

The release of the White Paper on the reports of the panel set up by the Lagos State Government to investigate allegations of police brutality and the shooting incident at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020 is raising even more issues and may have left the populace still as divided as it has been over the issues, The Difference can reveal.

While some continue to insist that there was no massacre at the Toll Gate on that fateful day, others say that there was and that the decision of the government to accept only 11 of the recommendations of the panel is not acceptable.

There is also controversy over Governor Sanwo Olu’s call for a government and civil society walk that he has offered to participate in.

But there are also meeting points, including the decision of the State Government to pass on the recommendations to discipline erring personnel to the federal authorities and the designation of October 20 as a Toll-Free day at the Lekki Toll Gate.
