Enduring lessons from the Horn of Africa
How one sacrificial move has led to a string of reforms that continue

It began with the resignation from office of one of the leaders in the Horn of Africa region, HaileMariam Desalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
His successor, Ahmed Abiy took the justice process one step further.
And now the Horn of Africa is witnessing a flurry of peace initiatives it has never seen in decades with Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia all involved.
Analysts and international relations scholars say that one of the positive spins of the current development is that it demonstrates for all to see that Africa can get it right even by itself!
And even the African Union is impressed. In a statement from its secretariat, the Union commended the progress recorded this far and wishes for more.
