EPL closing: When third position becomes most desirable!
By Tasie Theodore
This evening’s closing games of the 2019/2020 English Premier League, EPL season is coming with a paradox of sorts: the third position is indeed the most desirable position.
And it is for a very good reason: in addition to the basic prestige and associated bragging rights of being slightly ahead of the rest of the pack, the third and fourth position winners get to advance to represent England in the prestigious and equally quite profitable UEFA Champions League.
With the top two spots already taken by champions, Liverpool FC and runners-up, Manchester City, the trio of Leicester FC, Manchester United and Chelsea FC are locked in a frenetic game of wits for who would come out tops from among them and thus secure the final two Champions League spots.
While Leicester and Manchester United have between themselves to find a winner, Chelsea has to beat Wolves FC to get to the prize. It promises to be a night of tough and strategic footballing; and not forgetting, lots of prayers!
As for Champions Liverpool, their target would be to see if they can take their points tally to 99 at the close of today’s encounter against Newcastle FC.
All matches take place at 4.00pm.
