Questions as to whether PDP would accept outcome

By Anthony Opara

Thanks to an early lead secured in 12 of 16 local government areas from results officially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is set to be formally returned as winner of the gubernatorial polls conducted in Ekiti State on Saturday.

His closest rival, Professor Eleka of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has only been able to secure leads in four local government areas.

A war studies expert, Fayemi, who had served as governor of the state from 2014 up until 2018, is the immediate past minister of Solid Minerals Development.

The final tally of results is due to be released shortly even as there are questions as to whether the PDP would accept the outcome.
