Finally, Buhari, Ortom meet over #Benuekillings

No word yet from Benue Governor on outcome of talks

One week after suspected Fulani herdsmen launched the beginning of a series of fresh attacks on Benue communities, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally met with the state Governor, Samuel Ortom.

The meeting took place, Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.

A tweet on the President’s twitter handle outlined:

I just met with the Governor of Benue State. I assured Governor Ortom of our total commitment to the security of lives & property in Benue and elsewhere. We have deployed additional security resources to fish out the attackers, bring them to justice, and prevent further attacks.

There has been no report of the governor’s response on the outcome of the meeting but it will be recalled that before this meeting, a very distraught Ortom had blatantly accused the Federal Government of abandoning his people.
