…As Gbemiga Ogunleye moves on from NIJ
By Christian Izuchukwu Ahuchaogu
This is my tribute to my disciplinarian provost, Mr. Gbemiga Ogunleye on receiving news that he would shortly be moving on from his current perch as Provost at the Nigerian Institute of Journalist, NIJ, Ogba Lagos.
Your four years of leadership has indeed transformed Nigerian Institute of Journalism into being the true center of Communication Excellence as students under your watch came to better understood the importance of being identified as journalists.
A great teacher guides his students while pushing them on to achieving their fullest potential. A great teacher may be there only for a few years, but can become the motivation for a lifetime.
In Mr. Gbemiga Ogunleye’s years as the provost of NIJ not everyone will appreciate him the same way, but he was a great influence in many of our lives. He taught us to become something we could become proud of for ourselves.
So thank you for helping us and pushing us to meet our fullest potential, and being a strong source of motivation to the students in the institute. Thank you for showing us that we can become people to be proud of, and that we have the potential to be better then we think we can be.
Among other success imprints, I also remember that in his time as provost, Mr. Gbemiga Ogunleye put in his best effort in helping to secure a community radio license for NIJ.
Wishing you success in all your future endeavors, sir. You will be missed
