The seminal account of the history of the Yoruba people in South West Nigeria, the History of the Yrubas, will be 100 years in 2021.
This was revealed by the Managing Director of CSS Bookshops Limited, Mr Dare Oluwatuyi, at an event in Lagos on Thursday.
Oluwatuyi who was speaking at the December edition of the monthly #FocusNationAfrica summits hosted by CSS Bookshops and held at its Bookshop House headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria, said that the text remained one of CSS’s ‘strongest brand offerings ever.’
The History of the Yorubas was written by the Rev Samuel Johnson and published in 1921.
Presenting the keynote address at the event, Dr Raphael James of the Centre for Research in Information and Media Development, CRIMMD observed that there was indeed a lot to gain from Nigeria understudying some of the significant strides that had been recorded in the Kenyan tourism industry.
