In Nigeria, the Presidency is fighting back

By Akpo Ometan

Confronted by a lot of political and governance heat that is pouring in from literally all sides, the Presidency in Nigeria is now fighting back.

In statements from its spokespersons, the Special Assistants on Media, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina, as well as the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, the Presidency and the Buhari administration are confronting the opposition, enemies of the country and those that they insist have sinister motives, fingering them as being behind a lot of the troubles that the nation is presently enmeshed in.

This is however even as the security, economic, political and social challenges continue to dot the nation’s landscape, and with many analysts reasoning that the best way to address the burgeoning challenges in the country is for the the security and political structures to be loosened in such a way as to permit sub-national entities to have and exercise some more practical leverage in matters that concern them and their constituents.
