Lagos killing raises fresh questions over Iniobong Umoren’s killer

The recent killing of the Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga by his allegedly estranged lover, Chidinma Ojukwu is raising fresh questions as to the status of investigation and prosecution of the murder of Iniobong Umoren in Akwa Ibom State.

While Chidinma reportedly stabbed Ataga and left him dead in their love house, Umoren’s alleged killer, Uduak Frank Akpan, reportedly slept with her before killing her and also buried her body in the crime scene.

Incidentally, in both cases, the alleged killers have been paraded by the police on national television where they have publicly owned up to having committed the gruesome acts.

The challenge however is that as can be seen from the Umoren case, the wheels of justice do indeed grind so slowly that the public is left in grave doubt over when the actual trial process would begin and then be concluded.

There is also the corresponding fear that process delays could in fact open the door for the suspects to wriggle out of the loop on technical grounds.
