President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali and opposition leader Soumaila Cisse are billed to compete in a second round of voting scheduled to take place in the French-speaking West African country on August 12, The Difference has learnt.

Keita and Cisse had garnered 41.4 and 17.8 percent respectively of the popular vote in the first round of balloting, an outcome that places the burden of victory on the ability of the contenders to reach across the mass of voters that did not vote for them in the first round ballot.
