‘She is likely to be confirmed as substantive minister’

Nigeria’s acting Minister of Finance, Zainab Usmanwho was appointed on Friday night is an accountant and MBA holder

She takes over from Ms Kemi Adeosun who resigned Friday after battling allegations of a fake NYSC exemption certificate for two months.

Following the resignation of the minister, President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday night directed Ahmed to step into that role albeit in an acting capacity.

Polity watchers however hazard that given the administration’s noted penchant for not being swift to make personnel changes she may very well remain in that position until the end of the life of the current administration.

Before her present deployment, Zainab Ahmed had served as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning. Hailing from Kaduna State, Nigeria, she got her first degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University in 1981 and subsequently proceeded to Ogun State University where she bagged an MBA.
