Nigeria: Kuje Prisons, other attacks stir fresh security concerns

The attack on the Kuje Prisons, a correctional facility located in the precincts of Nigeria’s federal capital territory, and several other incidents of security breach in the country are stitting fresh security concerns, The Difference reports.

 

The prisons attack which reportedly too place on Tuesdaynght came at the same period when a presidential advance team was similarly attacked in Katsina State.

 

The notorious Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP has already claimed responsibility for the Kuje attack which reportedly featured a massive jailbreak, involving about 60 high profile Boko Haram detainees.

 

The West African nation has been plagued by increasing security challenges that has made many to lose faith in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of critical elections in February, 2023.
