Nigeria’s Economic Summit discusses employment

Why we are putting focus on infrastructure – Osinbajo

By Nsikan Ikpe

One reason why the Federal Government of Nigeria is putting a lot of focus on developing the national infrastructure base is to help ensure that the foundations for national economic growth are in place.

‘Adequate infrastructure will drive the growth plan, hence the need for heavy investment on infrastructure,’ the Vice President remarked.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Mr Tony Elumelu are among discussants at the ongoing summit.

The summit has as its theme: opportunities, Productivity and Employment.

The opening remarks were made by Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG President, Bukar Kyari at the well-attended event which is now in its 22nd edition.

And speaking to the subject of the day, John Rice of General Electric, queried: “How will you help develop your supply chain? Are we developing people? If we are not building capacity, we will shrink!”
The event annually draws leaders from the public and private sector to discuss pressing issues relating to the Nigerian national economy and its associated development space.
