The Ogun State House of Assembly has presently intervened in the on-going government-workers dispute over the non-remittance of deductions, with a view to ending the ongoing strike action in the state, which has lingered on for one week.
At a meeting with labour leaders in the state, led by Comrade Abiodun Olakanmi, Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Joint National Negotiating Council, the leadership of the House, led by Hon. Suraju ishola Adekunbi, the Speaker, called for the suspension of the strike to allow the Assembly look into the matter, for a lasting solution to the dispute.
Adekunbi alluded to the global economic downturn as the reason for government’s unfulfilled obligations, saying that the All Progressives Congress government in the state was labour-friendly.
“It is hoped that with the intervention of the House, labour will reciprocate the good gesture of the Assembly by following the path of amiable resolution of the dispute soonest,” the speaker said.
