As the D-day for #OndoDecides beckons, tempers are high in the state even as the respective political contenders and camps engage in last minute manouvres to enable them emerge tops in the governorship polls that takes place on Saturday.
With the process continuing to unfold, it is clear that it is indeed a straight contest between the incumbent, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. A third candidate, incumbent Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP is another principal contender.
The polls are coming only days after the Edo governorship contest that was won by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
The civil society monitor, YIAGA Africa says it has presently trained 646 observers to help with its own independent verification process.
There have also been a few reported skirmishes between supporters of the principal contenders, with many commentators calling on the security agencies to ensure that they go the extra mile so as to guarantee peace during the entire process.
