Outrage over suspension of Imam who criticised Buhari

By Akpo Ometan

Outrage has greeted news of the suspension of Sheikh Nuru Khalid, Chief Imam of the Apo Central Mosque over comments he had made in the course of a sermon where he criticised President Buhari for failing to secure the lives and properties of Nigerians despite his caimpaign era insistence that the armed forces of the federation was well able to do the job.

The comment is also coming alongside those of others who have critcised the President for not personally making a condolence trip to Kaduna immediately after the recent train attack which saw no less than eight people killed, several wounded and many others abducted by terrorists.

In his own response to news of his suspension from office however, Sheikh Khaid who had insisted that he was willing to face the consequences of his speaking truth to power has said that it is only God that dethrones.
