Convention loading. The countdown for the  is almost over as delegates begin to file into the Eagles Square venue of the event this morning.

As has been the buzz, the critical challenge has to do with who emerges as the party’s national chairman.

With the exit of “Bode George” from the keenly contested PDP national chairman contest, the fight is now between Uche Secondus, Raymond Dokpesi, Tunde Adeniran, Taoheed Adedoja, Rasheed Ladoja, Gbenga Daniel, Jimi Agbaje and Aderemi Olusegun.

Analysts also say that a successful outcome of this exercise would be a considerable fillip for the party’s chances in the 2019 presidential elections, where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who formally returned to its fold only a few days ago, is touted as being a leading contender for its ticket.

The PDP ruled Nigeria for the first six years of the current republic.
