By Akpo Ometan
An attempt by the electricity distribution company, Ikeja Electric, to pull a PR stunt on the controversial subject of its not providing prepaid billing meters to thousands of its customers has backfired.
Taking to its twitter handle recently, yhe firm posted a picture and an accompanying caption stating that its men were hard at work, installing the prepaid meters to its customers.
The caption read:
Pictured: Metering team installing prepaid meters in the Ipaja area of Alimosho LGA.
However, distraught subscribers posted their responses to the stunt.
Dt house must av bribe wt 50k
Installing Pre-paid meter while your team of fake engineers have refused to resolve an ordinary VOLTAGE SURGE for over 3wks still counting ! Very poor !
Guys, I think we should start a movement against this @IkejaElectric #delicenceIkejaEectric for daylight robbery of escalated billing, poor supply and terrible customer service.
This selective metering should stop. Only a house on my street has got this pre pay meter. When re we going to do something based on merit not bribe
Pls guys look at the picture well, that pre paid meter is for 6 compounds and only God knows how many flats and apartments, and the peeps that fixed theirs are still waiting for code, its almost 3weeks now. Don’t fall it.
Please how long will it take you guys to come to Shogunle area. The escalated bill is crazy. Sometimes I wonder if I’m running a factory
