Our problem with Obasanjo – Garba Shehu
By John Eche
Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, Garba Shehu has said that the problem the Buhari administration has with former President Olusegun Obasanjo is that not only does he choose the most difficult times in the life of the administration to combat it, but that he also hobnobs with fringe groups.
The presidential spokesman also noted that it is his view that at the end of the day, President Buhari would ultimately come across as the most tolerant President the country has had.
Shehu, who was speaking on Arise TV’s breakfast programme, The Morning Show, stated that Obasanjo being a member of the National Council of State had access like other past heads of state to the administration and as such ought to use that and other access channels to communicate his views to the administration.
Also speaking on the subject of the Presidency’s displeasure with Obasanjo’s latest comments on how the nation may be drifting to stormy waters and his accompanying caution on the need for President Buhari to take decisive corrective steps, a former Special Adviser to Obasanjo, Bashorun Akin Osuntokun remarked that it was clearly dishonest for the Presidency yo call Obasanjo the nation’s ‘divider-in-chief’ on account of his comments, arguing that Shehu was rather engaging in the presentation of ‘alternative reality.’
