A January 1st declaration by Lagos cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare, to the intent that he is not out of contention for the Nigerian presidency is generating varied reactions all over social media in Nigeria, The Difference is reporting.
In the text of the message which is taken from a video recording of the cleric’s end-year/new year message delivered to members of the Latter Rain Assembly, he is reported as saying that the almighty God had instructed him to that effect:
‘Politics is not over for you. There is still one thing left for you to do:run for President. I will work it out myself and make it happen in due course.’
Bakare, who had served as Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, SNG, an organisation set up to drive nationwide protests against the moves by the Yar Adua cabal to perpetuate his regime in office despite his ill-health, had gone on in 2011 to be the presidential running mate to the then opposition contender, General Muhammadu Buhari.
He was until now, known as being associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and is yet to give any more specific details as to his future moves.
