Who replaces Segun Agbaje as GTBank CEO

By Jihn Eche

Weeks to the close of his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, CEO at Guaranty Trust Bank, GTBank Plc, the race is now on to find a replacement for Mr. Segun Agbaje as helmsman at the bank.

Agbaje, who is the third Managing Director/CEO at the bank had come to the saddle after Messers Fola Adeola and Tayo Aderinokun.

And because, all the succession programmes in the past had been essentially carried out from within, feelers now are that even his own successor could come from the present top ranks of Executive Directors at the bank.

Should this play out, then it will be a choice from among Mr. A. A. Odeyemi, Mr. H. Musa, Mr. M. J. Lawal, Mrs. M. C. Olusanya and Mr. Jide Okuntola.

Sources say that while the new CEO is not expected to take over until early in the new year, the successful candidate may however be named in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the coming into office of the new CEO would likely be coinciding with the ongoing project of establishing a Holding Company structure at the financial institution for which extensive consultations are presently underway.
