Resolving the Uganda/Rwanda diplomatic spat

Tensions between both countries not helping broader continental growth aspirations

The ongoing diplomatic spat between Uganda and Rwanda is clearly not helping the cause of African unity and concerted continental growth and development. It has to be resolved now.

At the moment, things have deteriorated to the extent where border crossings are being closed and advisory notes are being posted discouraging cross-border relations by citizens.

Coming at a time when the progressive-minded people of the continent and the broader pan-African diaspora are on their toes, waiting for the closing news that the last four ratifications that are required to bring the much coveted African Continental Free Trade Agreement, AfCFTA into effect have now come in, this spat clearly does Africa no good. We reiterate: it must be resolved now!

We call on the other member heads of states within the East African Community, EAC and the current Chairman of the African Union, AU Heads of States, President Al-Sisi of Egypt to accelerate their levels of intervention towards ensuring that the spat is completely resolved without any further delay.
