Thanks to a killer fourth minute goal from ‘spoilsport,’ Cristiano Ronaldo, a second African team, the Atlas Lions of Morocco may have presently crashed out of the ongoing World Cup competition, even with one more match against Spain to play.

At the close of the encounter Wednesday, the Atlas Lions lost 0-1 to the Portuguese side who now top Group B.

And on account of their loss, the Moroccans also now join Egypt as the second African team to not likely progress any further in the tournament, having lost 1-3 to hosts Russia in yesterday’s string of matches.

Like Egypt, Russia yet has one more match to play, but that game is being read by bookmakers as a mere formality given that the team is yet to bag a point in the competition.

And in a related development, Africans everywhere are presently rallying around Senegal, the only African side to have presently secured a win in the tournament.

In Nigeria which equally has a team in the tournament, but which is yet to win a match, a growing band of fans are taking to social media to identify with the Senegalese side.
