Concern mounts over hidden dangers in Chinese loans

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya is coming under increased pressure to disclose the details of the collateral pledged to secure loans from China by his administration, he Difference has learnt.

This is coming on the heels of growing concern as to the possibility of a possible loans repayment default and its consequences for the sovereignty and well-being of the people of the leading East African nation going forward.

African nations have recently being heading eastward in search of loans to build and grow their economies.

One of the latest in such expressions is the Exim-China loan taken by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria to finance a new terminal building at the federal capital city of Abuja.
