Have you watched the blockbuster movie, Wakanda? Did you enjoy it?

Now there is a spin-off and life in Senegal would shortly be imitating art if the recent disclosure by the US-born musical artist of Senegalese extraction is anything to go by.

The artist is planning to build a Wakanda-type city on land that he has presently secured from Presient Macky Sall.

Further and in line with contemporary realities, the fiscal operations of the new ‘real-life Wakanda city’ would be built around a new crypto-currency called AKoin

This is not Akon’s first outreach project. Back in 2007, he had co-founded the Konfidence Foundation, a health and education charity for underprivileged children in West Africa and the United States.

He had equally co-founded the Akon Lighting Africa project in 2014, which has reportedly has brought solar power to 18 African countries and counting.
