With DRC mining deal, Akon pushes African investments

African-American R and B artiste of Senegalese extraction, Akon is pushing his investment drive in Africa a notch higher with a mining deal in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, The Difference reports.
The deal which takes the precise form of an investment in copper and cobalt exploration in the Southern African nation is being done under the auspices of an American-registered firm that the hip hop star runs. Already, contracts have been entered into to pay a $2million signing bonus in respect of the project.
It will be recalled that even before the current investment, the notable singer had already commenced the building of a real-life Wakanda City in Senegal, using the specially mined Cryptocurrency, Akoin.
A six-billion dollar construction contract has already being entered into with a US firm in respect of the project and work on the futuristic African city which is located some 60 kilometres off the Senegalese capital, Dakar, is expected to be completed in 2030. The plan is to incorporate a tech hub and a film production village, that is already being described as Senewood.
A second smart city, the Mwale Medical and Technology City is planned for Kenya in East Africa.
Central to the projects is Akon’s belief in the imperative of African Diaspora-Homeland collaborations
