World Championships: Jamaica’s Danielle Williams edges out Tobi Amusan

By Tasie Theodore

Despite a spirited attempt by Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan to make hay in the ongoing World Championships, the gold for the sprint hurdle event has gone to Jamaica’s Danielle Williams

Posting a winning time of 12.43 seconds this Thursday, the Jamaican hurdled past the likes of World Record Holder, Tobi Amusan; the Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and USA’s Kendra Harrison to win the sprint hurdle event.

Amusan has in particular had a very bruising year coming on the heels of her previously being implicated in a possible drug use charge which she robustly and vehemently denied. The charge was however to be resolved in her favour but it was scarcely hours before the commencement of the tournament proper.
