Zinbabwe: Will Chamisa be lucky this time around?
By Tasie Theodore
As the people of Zimbabwe head to the polls next month, the question on the lips of many is whether opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa would be much luckier this time around.
Slated for August 23, the presidential contest would see 45-year old Chamisa principally slugging it out with the current president: 80-year old Emmerson Mnangagwa who has has served as president since the ouster of the dictator, Robert Mugabe in 2017.
Though there are as much as 44 registered parties in the Southern African country, only about ten are expected to field presidential contenders at the moment.
Zimbabwe, is a unitary state and the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) has been on the saddle since independence in 1980.
